Step One: Download Your Embroidery Design: Start out by downloading the Classic Mono font available on my website in the “DOWNLOADS” tab.

Step Three: Attach USB Cord: Attach the USB cord to your laptop and the sewing machine.

Step Four: Apply Stabilizer To Fabric And Embroidery Frame: Position your fabric into the embroidery frame. Use your plastic guide as a template for positioning where you want your monogram to be applied on the fabric. Apply a stabilizer to the back of the fabric. This provides a more smooth embroidery outcome. I prefer using a tear away stabilizer for my embroideries, like the one below.

Place your cut interfacing backing underneath your fabric.

Step Five: Follow My Tutorial On “How To Use The Brother SE-400 Sewing Machine For Monogramming”. Click here to be given step by step instructions on setting up your embroidery font.

Step Six: Select Your Design: Click on the font name and then the PES subfolder. You will see three different sized fonts, 1 inch, 2 inch, and 3 inch. Each letter of the alphabet will be listed as centerright, or left. In this tutorial, we will be using the 3 inch font.

In this tutorial, we will be using the 3 inch monogram with the initials E M H.

E- First Initial

M- Middle Initial

H- Last Initial

Start with the center initial. Select the 3 inch option for “3inchCenterH.pes” and drag it over to your folder.

Next, select the 3 inch option for “3inchLeftJ.pes”. Drag the file over to your “Sewing Machine” folder.

Finally, select the 3 inch option for “3inchRightM.pes”. Drag the file over to your “Sewing Machine” folder.

Using the Classic Mono embroidery font, complete your monogram design using the following values. Your center letter will be at the size 10.00 and your left and right initials should be around 9.0. I find it beneficial to do a practice template to make sure that your letters align correctly. Below is the embroidery setup for my monogram E-H-M.

H-  10.00 + 0.00,   4.5 + 0.00 (3 inch font)

Step Eight: Begin Your Embroidery: Complete the embroidery instructions available here for your Classic 3 Inch Monogram.

Step Nine: Trim Fabric: Remove your newly embroidered fabric from the sewing machine and trim the edges. Tear your interfacing/stabilizer from around your design.

Your finished product will look something like this.
